New Substack explores rural issues (especially politics)

Bryce Oates, who has written regularly for the Daily Yonder for several years, has a new Substack called The Cocklebur.  Here are some of the headlines of his recent posts:
  • There will be no cavalry that is not of our own making (about rural organizing)
  • Conserving public forests pairs well with sustainable timber economy (cross posted to the Daily Yonder)
  • "When we are organizing in rural communities, sometimes we are quite literally the only alternative to that alt-right worldview."
  • Forget soccer moms.  Let's talk about rural SNAP voters.
  • "Investing in rural organizing is what's going to bring the political changes we have been looking for."
  • Agriculture greenhouse gas pollution has risen steadily in the last 30 years, in spite of misinformation peddled by the Industrial Agriculture lobby.
You can subscribe to The Cocklebur here.
