I'll admit that most of my musical knowledge comes from the 90's, and any exposure to so-called "rural" music is popular country music that is played on the radio. Thus, I have never give much attention to the changes and shifts in musical messages. Learning how music has moved from descriptive accounts to more political messages is interesting, and I especially liked the analysis you provided as to why the shift has occurred.
